Mountain Valley Cabins
Lake Lure is an outdoor paradise, a unique spot combining lake activities and mountain views against a forested green of pine trees. Your time here will feel like a breath of fresh air, a chance to slow down and truly relax.
The most alluring attraction of Lake Lure is of course Lake Lure itself, with beautiful fresh water and 24 miles of shoreline. Lake Lure Beach and Waterpark is owned by the town and access to both are available for a small combined fee. Here, you can leisurely float in an inner tube, kayak, paddle board, shoot down a water slide, or simply lay back in the sand and relax, soaking up the sun and majestic backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are several companies in town where you can rent kayaks or paddle boards, such as Lake Lure Adventure Company. If you haven’t had enough of the water, hop on a boat with Lake Lure Tours, located in the Washburn Marina.
When you’re ready for some time on land, take a stroll along the lakeside 3/4 mile Town Center Walkway, most known for the gorgeous 300 ft flowering bridge over the water, a public garden space. Enjoy the amenities at Morse Park, where you will find a large grassy meadow, often the location of various athletic events, festivals, boat and car shows, and outdoor concerts, as well as a picnic area, playground, and basketball and tennis courts. Hit the trail at Weed Patch Mountain or Youngs Mountain, both with sweeping mountain views. An easy 5 minute drive from Lake Lure Beach is one of the most popular places in North Carolina- Chimney Rock. The hike up to the top of Chimney Rock from the parking lot is 500 steps, but the trek will reward you with incredible views of Hickory Hut Gorge and Lake Lure.
Sun, sand, and mountain air will surely make you hungry! There are many options for a bite in Lake Lure, such as pizza (and mini golf) at Stagecoach Saloon, Mexican food at El Lago, “farm to fork” fare plus craft beer and local wines at Lured Market and Grill, pub grub and local brews at Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery, and fine dining with lake and mountain views at The Highlands Kitchen and Bar. Enjoy a cold sweet treat at The Scoop or a cup of joe at Coffee on the Rocks.
Whether you’re coming to Lake Lure to sit back and relax at a slow pace or to move your body on the water and on land, you will find ample opportunities here for both. Truly a place to feel renewed!
